Creative Directors of D&G, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been found guilty of tax evasion to the tune of $1.3bn. The verdict was announced this afternoon after hours of consideration by a three-judge panel who decided to uphold last June's guilty verdict that saw the designers both sentenced to 20-months in prison for allegedly committing tax evasion, Vogue UK reports.

The alleged crime is said to have been a result of the sale of their Dolce & Gabbana and D&G brands to the Luxembourg-based holding company Gado Srl in 2004.

Dolce & Gabbana have always denied the charges and promptly appealed last year's decision with their legal representative. But the appeal has been denied and both men are now facing prison time

'Kill public officials who steals above N1million' – TUC president

President of the TUC, Bobboi Kaigama during a lecture at the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife yesterday, recommended the death penalty for any public official who is indicted in any financial crime above N1million.

During his lecture which was titled "‘Corruption and challenges in nation-building’, Kaigama said tougher sanctions such as his suggestion would make the government's crusade against corruption more sincere

"If the governments and legislators are truly sincere about the fight against corruption in the country, they must go tougher. Any public official, whether at the state or federal level, should be executed. Killing them after confirmation of any embezzlement allegation of more than N1m will lead us to the right path. A hostage negotiator in direct contact with the kidnappers of more than 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria tells Channel 4 News their safe release is "within reach", but that their fate rests on a knife-edge.

The girls, we believe, are alive but they have been moved from the location to which they were originally taken," the intermediary told Channel 4 News. "It would not be hard to engineer a deal. It looks like they want to release them."

The kidnappers have warned, however, that attempts by the military to launch a rescue attempt "may result in the deaths of many of the captives".

Yesterday P-Square's publicity Bayo Adetu was quoted as saying the fight between the brothers was all a publicity stunt, and that they all decided to play along. Well, after the backlash from fans, Mr Adetu has backtracked and claims he never made those comments. A statement he released below.

My attention has been drawn to one magazine interview quoting me that the purported P-Square break-up tale was a ‘publicity stunt.’ It was indeed a misconception on the part of the writer. I never said the rumour was a ‘publicity stunt.’

There is no way I could have granted an official interview and speak in such denigrating manner as being portrayed by the magazine in question.

I can remember talking to Star FM and NTA2, and it is on record that I never spoke in such unprofessional manner! Most importantly, I never said it was a ‘publicity stunt’ because that amounts to toying with the emotions of P-Square fans. I cherish the fans more than Diamond and therefore, I will never disrespect or toy with their emotions. Thanks for your understanding.

In a shocking tale, a mother has been arrested after repeatedly stabbing her baby girl in her neck, abdomen and thorax, minutes after she was born.

Jessica Luarte Muñoz, 23, who was pregnant kept it a secret ,refusing to see any family member .After giving birth secretly in the bathroom of her home in Chile, she stabbed the girl and tried to suffocate her by wrapping her in clothes and hiding the bloodstained infant under her bed.

Her evil deed was uncovered when her sister Aguilera Muñoz, visited her midway through the alleged murder attempt.The new mum tried to chase her but Aguilera didn't budge.She was stunned to hear the muffled cries of a baby wrapped in clothes and thrown under the bed .She called the police and medics as soon as she found the seriously injured baby .

Local media reports that thought the baby is in critical condition at an intensive care unit, she is expected to survive.

Killer dies of Heart Attack after lethal Injection meant to execute him didn't work (Photo)

The execution of a death row inmate, Clayton Lockett,went wrong after he died of a heart attack.Clayton who was sentenced to death for shooting a 19-year-old Perry woman(right) and watching his friends bury her alive, was to die by use of three experimental drugs.He received the entire cocktail of injections - which had never been tried in Oklahoma before - but for some reason the drugs didn't kill him.

Oklahoma Department of Corrections director Robert Patton said the inmate was writhing on the gurney and shaking uncontrollably about 13 minutes into the execution.

The execution began at 6:23 p.m. when officials started to inject the first drug, and a doctor declared Lockett to be unconscious at 6:33 p.m.About three minutes later, though, Lockett began breathing heavily, writhing on the gurney, clenching his teeth and straining to lift his head off the pillow.At 6.37p.m., Lockett sat up and said 'something's wrong.'
After about three minutes, a doctor lifted the sheet that was covering Lockett to examine the injection site. After that, an official who was inside the death chamber lowered the blinds, preventing those in the viewing room from seeing what was happening.

Patton then made a series of phone calls before calling a halt to the execution.The inmate finally suffered a massive heart attack and died at 7.06p.m.

33 year old Lawal Olaniyi Babafemi (pictured above) yesterday Tuesday April 29th pleaded guilty to terror charges in a US court. The Nigerian citizen is accused of providing material support to an al Qaeda affiliate, and participating in its media and recruitment campaigns, Reuters reports.

US prosecutors said that, from January 2010 to August 2011, Babafemi left Nigeria to Yemen twice to meet with some leaders of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, known as AQAP.

"The defendant traveled to Yemen to put himself at the disposal of a violent terrorist organization that has repeatedly demonstrated its determination to inflict bodily and economic harm on the US and its citizens," A U.S. Attorney said in a statement.

Prosecutors also say the al Qaeda leaders paid Babafemi, also known as 'Ayatollah Mustapha' almost $9,000 to recruit English-speaking people from Nigeria that would write for their online magazine called 'Inspire'. He was extradited August last year from Nigeria to the US.

Sentencing for the case has been scheduled for August 27th. Babafemi faces a maximum of 30 years in prison. So they are basically locking him for editing and getting writers for the al Qaeda magazine.

I Can’t Accept A N500,000 Monthly Salary - 22-yr-old Nigerian Entrepreneur

I came across an interview that revealed a 22 year old Nigerian entrepreneur who stated clearly that if he is offered a job with a monthly take home of N500,000 as salary that he will not accept it!

His name is Muhammad Abdullahi Salisu, who emerged one of the top 10 leading entrepreneurs out of the 50 shortlisted small and medium enterprises owners in the 2014 edition of the Etisalat Easybusiness Millionaires Hunt, winning a whooping sum of N2m in the process.

In this interview, Salisu explained how studying Bio-Chemistry in the university and passion for providing solutions to the problem of waste management triggered his interest in the recycling business.

Makers of mobile telephones and tablets may soon be kicked out of the market by 'better' made in Nigeria MINDA Tablets and phones says Nigeria's Supervising Minister for the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Darius Ishaku.

The new range of mobile devices, being assembled by 100 graduates of the Calabar Skills Acquisition Centre in Cross River State with the assistance of an Irish firm, include smartphones and tablets.

The Minister told journalists that he uses the devices and found them as good as any in the market.

The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, on Tuesday said it had registered a total of 38,419 new companies/businesses nationwide in the first quarter of 2014.

This is contained in a statement signed by the commission’s Director of Public Affairs, Williams Churchill in Abuja.

According to the statement, the figure comprises 19,057 limited liability companies, 17,399 business names and 1,963 incorporated trustees popularly known as non-governmental organisations, NGOs.

It said the commission had relaxed its registration processes and procedures, making it possible for applicants to register their companies/businesses directly without passing through lawyers, chartered accountants and chartered secretaries.

Nigeria Immigration Begins Training Of Border Patrol Team

Five hundred border patrol immigration officers are undergoing training on boarder management in an effort to reduce the increasing number of illegal immigrants trooping into Nigeria and the influx of insurgents from the north east.

At the flag-off ceremony at the immigration training school in Kano State, north west Nigeria, on Monday, the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr David Paradang, said the border patrol unit would work with other agencies to ensure better border security management.

The officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service, drown from various immigration commands and formation across Nigeria, were specially selected to fully provide adequate security to Nigerian borders said to be highly porous over the years.

As Nigeria’s social-political challenges mount, Change Movement Nigeria has announced a mass participation protest, named “Stolen Dreams Walk,” to take place tomorrow Thursday, May 1.

“Every onlooker is either a coward or a willing collaborator,” the group said in a statement on Monday. “We have spoken enough at seminars, workshops and conferences. The time to act is now. Let us join hands to salvage our country.”

It said the ‘Stolen Dreams’ action will take place on at 9am at CMS, Lagos Island, and invited all Nigerians whose dream of a great nation has been shattered to come and join us in the event.

“The current socio-political realities compel reaction from the conscious layer of the Nigerian society,” the statement emphasized. “The youths must be ready to confront these dream killers until lost hopes are restored. The women under the aegies of Kibaku Development Association and led by senior female police officers converged at the Eagle square Abuja, all dressed in black, from where they match peacefully to the National Assembly, wailing and pleading for help from the government.
