Mohammed Aminu
President Goodluck Jonathan, will conduct a one-day visit to Sokoto State tomorrow.
Jonathan
would during the visit, welcome the former Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa
and his supporters, who decamped from the All Progressives Congress
(APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently.
A statement
signed by the Media Aide to the former governor, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi,
a copy of which was made available to THISDAY in Sokoto, said the
ceremony would take place at Shehu Kangiwa Square, Sokoto and would be
attended by all PDP supporters across the 23 local government areas of
the state.
According to the statement, those expected to be at
the grand reception included National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu
Mu’azu, national executive members, PDP governors, ministers, former
governors as well as former ministers from the North-west.
The
statement added that the president would also inspect the PDP state
headquarters and later hold a meeting with the elders of the party
before returning to Abuja.
Bafarawa had two weeks ago defected to the PDP along his supporters, accusing the national leadership of the APC of injustice.
THISDAY,
however, observed that banners and posters of the PDP placed in
strategic areas and major roundabouts in the Sokoto metropolis ahead of
the visit
