The National Judicial. Council (NJC) has suspended the Acting Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice P. N. C. Agumagu.
A statement signed by NJC's Acting Director, Information Mr. Soji Oye said the decision to suspend Agumagu was taken at an emergency meeting held on the 26th March, 2014.
The council cited section 271 (1) of the constitution which gave the council the power to recommend a judge for appointment as Chief Judge of a state and said that at no time did the council recommend Agumagu for appointment as Chief Judge.
