Tragedy averted as 90 passengers escape death at Aminu Kano Airport

Tragedy was averted on Tuesday night when over 90 passengers aboard Istanbul bound Turkish Airline narrowly escaped death at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport when a petrol tanker refuelling the plane reportedly caught fire. 

The incident, which occurred Tuesday night sparked confusion at the airfield as those around took to their heels. Vanguard reports that the prompt intervention of men of Fire Service Department of the airport averted the tragedy. Men of the fire service were however mobilised to the scene and they helped to pushed off the aircraft, a Boeing 747 from the spot before putting out the raging inferno.

 It was gathered that the passengers hurriedly disembarked into a waiting bus that conveyed them to a hotel in the city. Eyewitness stated that though the aircraft was not damaged by the fire incident, the airliner was said to have cancelled the scheduled flight to enable their demoralised passengers recover from shock.
