Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives' Congress (APC) has described
the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential
candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming
election slated for February 2015 as not only a mockery of democracy but
also a glorification of failure.
A statement issued in Akure by the party's state Publicity Secretary,
Om'Oba Abayomi Adesanya, accused the PDP as being the bane of Nigeria’s
woes.
The party vowed that the people of Ondo will not vote for Jonathan in
view of the various scandals perpetrated by his administration without
any form of prosecution of those involved.
“If after the review of the Jonathan-led administration's policies
and scandals including the missing Chibok girls, shoddy handling of Boko
Haram insurgency, fuel subsidy scam, "Oduahgate," Diezeani jet scandal,
$9.3 million cash-for-arms scandal, pensions fund scam, missing $20
billion and others too numerous to mention, then the PDP is the bane of
Nigeria’s woes.
“The PDP found Mr. President worthy of being imposed on Nigerians
which also implies continuity of these policies and scandals and in view
of the unhealthy state of the nation, the good people of Ondo State are
eagerly waiting to vote out President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan," the
statement read in part.
The APC also advised the President to be wary of political
sycophants, attention-seeking groups and their allies such as the
Jonathan Actualisation Movement (JAM), which according to it, cannot
save him from imminent electoral woes.
The party noted that the recent wish expressed by the Southwest
coordinator of JAM, Victor Olabimtan, that majority of votes for
President Goodluck Jonathan from the southwest zone will come from Ondo
State, is sycophantic and unrealistic.
According to the APC, public office is about public service and
service delivery, regretting that Ondo State has not benefited from
President Jonathan's administration, despite the fact that promises
including industrialisation of the state and stable power supply, among
others too numerous to mention, were made during his electioneering
campaigns in 2011.
In a clear act of betrayal, the
APC noted that the Jonathan-led PDP administration has only inflicted
more pains and hardship on the people of the state and the country at
large as Nigerians now sweat out #97 for a litre of Premium Motor Spirit
(PMS) as against the initial #65.
“Nigerians are now exposed to insecurity in all parts of the country,
while our youths remain in a state of joblessness. These parameters,
among others, are the reasons the people of Ondo State and other
Nigerians are eagerly waiting to vote out President Goodluck Jonathan in
2015," the APC further stated.
The party lamented that Nigeria is bleeding and therefore implored
Nigerians to unite and vote out the PDP in the forthcoming elections.
