Ewuro; 'Violence against women...my mum was a victim!' Tim Godfrey shares touching story

With less than two weeks to the unveiling of the biggest stage play event in Nigeria, Ewuro (Bitter Leaf), “a Joseph Ofili directed master class show addressing the social issue of Violence Against Women”, Multiple awards winning singer, Tim Godfrey who also doubled as the president of ROX music and the executive director of the show “Ewuro” has shared a touching but somewhat inspiring story and a reason you shouldn’t miss out on the epic stage show that seeks redress in hope and freedom for all the women in Nigeria and Africa!

 

According to the AMEN crooner, Tim Godfrey “Having witnessed violence against my mother under the guise of culture and tradition when my dad passed on, the occurrence and recurrence of this ill has become endemic and what is even more troubling is the extent to which people go to cover it up, both the victims and the aggressors. We are therefore inspired to creatively address it and re-awaken our emotions to the true nature of the female experience in Nigeria in the hope that we will begin to engage in fruitful conversations about this issue and ultimately, change will begin” He concluded.

 

Ewuro, is a story delivered through intriguing hybrid of drama, music and dance. Then it follows the trajectory of each character’s peculiar emotional dilemma, leading to a thought provoking resolution, before climaxing in a high-energy musical performance.

 

The august show will hold at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre on the 15^th November, 2015 and it shall feature UN Peace ambassador and Award winning singer Waje, Femi Jacobs, Joseph Benjamin, Yaw, Nedu, Lepacious Bose, Chinonso Young, Gloria Young and a host of others whom will join Multiple award winning Artiste, Tim Godfrey and Xtreme for a fusion of dance, drama and high energy music.
