One of the many things God blessed me with, would be the ability to go to sleep at will even if my house is on fire. I consider that as a gift because, this environment has murdered sleep for most Nigerians. How can we sleep when things are all falling apart around us? It saddens my heart to see the appalling state of our nation and the quick progressive decline in the quality of governance and the management of the polity. Naija as it were has gone to the dogs and really, it's only a matter of time before shit finally hits the fan. Because, we must hit rock-bottom before we can start to think of a Nigeria that is workable.
“The NEC unanimously resolved to suspend, with immediate effect, the Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okoroacha, from the party for gross anti-party activities, bordering on his involvement with the All Progressives Congress contrary to the clear provisions of the APGA constitution." The National Vice-Chairman of APGA (South-West), Tayo Sowunm said yesterday.
Listen to the interview HERE‘We are such a country that is so blessed by God. We don’t have earthquake, volcanoes, tsunami. We are problems to ourselves and this is disgusting. I come from a background where I was molested as a child. Definitely it’s a serious situation where you have to put a child through that type of trauma’.
"The truth is that God brought her to me and it was just glare in my spirit. When my wife passed on, I was completely clueless and I began to pray. God showed her to me. She refused my advances initially but after some time through prophesies and so on, she said yes."Apostle Madubuko met Emmy in Kenya in 2010 during one of his visits to the country to propagate God's work at the Revival Assembly Azusa conference. The Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, has said the newly registered All Progressives Congress, APC, may not last for long because “its foundation is wrong, its combination is faulty and its ideologies are not clearly defined.’’
He said the registration of APC by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, underscored the openness of the present administration.
Mr. Okupe made this remark when he spoke with newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.
He stressed that the registration of the APC by INEC also demonstrated “political liberalism of President Jonathan.
“This would not have happened under many Africa Presidents, especially when it is obvious that there were obvious hurdles and obstacles to that registration’’, Mr. Okupe said.
Such obstacles, he said, could have been exploited and amplified and used by people of lesser integrity to frustrate the registration of the party. He held that the PDP-led Federal Government was not afraid of the APC registration.
“These are people that were beaten individually and collectively before, we will defeat them randomly.
A wanted robbery suspect, Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Abbey Godogodo, who was said to have been terrorising the South-West for some time, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
According to police authorities, the suspect led the gang that killed seven people, including the owner of 04 Hotel, Ajah, Lagos, Olanrewaju Subair, on July 7, 2013.
They also killed two other security guards at a popular hotel along Apapa Road, Ebute Meta area of the state on the same day.
The suspect, who was paraded on Thursday, told PUNCH Metro that he killed many policemen, adding that he had been into robbery for over 10 years and had built houses.
Ogunjobi said, “I started robbery in 1996 but in 1999, I was charged for fighting. I spent about seven years in prison. My prolonged stay in prison for minor crime of fighting hardened me and I vowed to pay back the police for that injustice. After I was released, I went to Katangowa in Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos to meet my friend, Odun.
“Odun was an armed robber, so, we started operating together. We worked with several gangs and I invested lots of my money in arms buying. I also built five houses in Ifo, Ilaro, Ikorodu and Ibadan. I usually kill policemen and take their rifles because policemen have killed several of my boys and taken most of my rifles from them.
The National Council of Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria on Thursday warned against the alarming drop of male-child in education.
With the drop, the group noted that in the next 10 years, there would be a scarcity of quality husbands in the country.
The organisation National President, Chief Onyeabo, stated this on Thursday at a briefing to herald College, Abuja.
She said, "The future of this country is going to be very bleak for the male-child. How many girls do you see hawking clothes? Go to Onitsha, they are all men. We have looked round and have come to see that there is a neglect of boys in education. Who are the armed robbers They are mostly the boys on the streets
"The NCCWO feels that a vacuum is being created, and very soon, we shall be faced with a situation where our educated girl-child will not find a corresponding suitable boy-child to marry. This is because more boys drop out of school, apparently because the high unemployed youth discourages our young boys from appreciating the need to be educated.
"The NCCWO also consideres the fact that in the near future, quality husbands will become extremely scarce, with too many highly educated women looking husbands, and settling for anyhow husbands, just to get married. The result of this type of situation is better imagined and will not augur well for Nigerians."
The Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Mr Babatunde Adepitan has answered the lingering question about the ownership of Aguiyi-Ironsi International Market at Ladipo Market in Mushin, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
He spoke on the ground that some people are confused over the ownership of the market.
Adepitan explained that the land originally belonged to Lagos State government and was meant for the establishment of Mushin General Hospital.
He explained that the state government, observing that the environment as a market place, will not be conducive for the intended hospital, decided to change the original plan.
He said that Lagos State ceded the land to Mushin LGA to be used as a market after payment of certain amount.
Adepitan further explained that the council in private partnership arrangement, entered into an agreement and leased the land to a private company called Paramo Development Ventures Limited owned by the late Alhaji Hassan Olajoku.
“The lease will last for 25 years and since then the council left the development and management of the market to Paramo,” he explained.
