Project Coordinator
Type of Contract: Service Contract
Post Level: Project Coordinator
Duration: One (1) year renewable subject to satisfactory
performance


Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Programme Specialist
(Education). the Project Coordinator for the Empowennent of Girls &
Women Through the Use of ICTs for literacy and Skills Development in
Nigeria. the expert will perform the following functions:
Ensure the effective day-to-day administration of the project in
consultation with the Senior Programme Specialist.
Effectively participate in the implementation. monitoring and evaluation
of the P&G project, including field missions.
Prepare quality work plans. progress and final reports, briefs and
presentations required for the successful and timely implementation
of the programme.
Ensure effective coordination of programme activities through regular
consultation and collaboration with relevant stakeholders and partners.
Ensure effective and timely execution of programme-related
workshops. seminars. field missions, study tours as per given deadlines
and with strict adherence to UNESCO rules. procedures. and norms,
including financial procedures.
Support the day-to-day operations of the UNESCO Abuja Regional
Office and support the Education Section with routine communication
and consultation with relevant officials at federal and state levels.
Keep abreast with national development programmes and trends with
a view to identifying, organizing, analyzing relevant information to
underpin the implementation and monitoring of the Empowerment of
Girls & Women Through the Use of ICTs for Literacy and Skills
Development in Nigeria project.
Contribute to the work of the Education Section and the Inter-
sectoral Platform.
Perform any other duty deemed necessary by the Regional Director
or Senior Programme Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
The ideal candidates should posses:
At least an advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in
Education or Social sciences
5 to 10 years of work experience in the field of education at national
level. Experience in and familiarity with the work of the United Nations,
multilateral or bilateral organizations will be an asset.
Experience in management and coordination of projects, especially
literacy projects.
Ability to think and plan strategically and to work effectively with
teams.
Excellent communication and report writing skills.
Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written). A brief written test
may be used in the evaluation of candidates.
Ability to work inter-sectorally and in teams.




Project Assistant
Type of Contract: Service Contract
Post Level: Project Assistant
Duration: One (1) year renewable subject to satisfactory
performance


Duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Specialist
(Education), the successful candidate will perform the following
duties
and responsibilities:
Assist in programme elaboration and implementation.
Provide logistical support at meeting, seminars, and workshops within
the Project and ensure that all planning and preparations required for
the successful organization of events are in place.
Prepare and process payment requests ensuring. that required
payment documents are in order and follow-upon outstanding issues
pertaining to concerned contracts.
Draft correspondence and responses to programme queries, follow
up to ensure timely delivery of mails from programmes and maintain
proper records for proposals and other documentation (including hard
copy folders) relating to activities of the project.
Follow up on arrangement for and confirmation of hotel reservations
and settlement of bills.
Prepare the Education Section's travel and leave plans and undertake
any other duties and responsibilities required for the smooth running of
the Education Sector.
Contribute to the work of the Education sector and the Inter-
sectoral Platform.
Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Regional Director
or Senior Programme Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
University Degree in Education, Arts, Social Sciences or their
equiValent.
Computer literacy is an essential requirement for the job, excellent
knowledge and use of English language.
Ability to work inter-sectorally and in teams.
At least 4 years relevant experience in any UN Agency in the last five
years



Project Coordinator - Revitalizing Adult and Youth literacy
in Nigeria Project
Type of Contract: Service Contract
Post Level: Project Coordinator
Duration: One (1) year renewable subject to satisfactory
performance


Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Programme Specialist
(Education), the Project Coordinator for the Revitalizing Adult and
Youth Literacy in Nigeria project, the expert will perform the
following functions:

consultation with the Senior Programme Specialist

Project Coordinator - Green Economy in Biosphere
Reserves (GEBR)
Type of Contract: Service Contract

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Director of UNESCO Multi sectoral
Regional Office in Abuja, and direct supervision of the Science
Programme Specialist, the Project Coordinator will perform the
following functions:
Coordinate and manage project contracts with implementing partners
and consultants.
Support the strategic implementation of project and the role of
implementing partners and consultants to achieve project deliverables.
Coordinate project budget and resource allocation.
Monitor the implementation rate of project activities to ensure that
activities are executed within agreed time frames and coordinate all
project assessment and evaluation procedures.
Coordinate the preparation of reports on project implementation and
deliverables.
Assisting in compiling project progress and evaluation reports for
timely submission to donor.
Identify and provide relevant technical support and guidance to
implementing partners and consultants.
Coordinate the preparation of the content and organization of the
various meetings and workshops related to the implementation of the project activities.
Coordinate all activities related to ensuring the in-country visibility of
the project.
Coordinate and monitor overall project tasks and other logistics for
the successful implementation of the project.
Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Regional Director or Senior Programme Specialist.

Minimum Quaifications Required:
The ideal candidates should posses:
Master degree in Environmental Sciences/Environmental
Management/Economics, Geography or a closely related field.
A minimum of three (3) years progressively professional experience in the above mentioned fields.
Proven skills in project coordination invoMng different stakeholders and implementing partners.
Good communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. including drafting reports,
Excellent writing and oral command of the English language.
Proficiency in the use of standard computer software (Excel,
PowerPoint) knowledge in GIS and statistical software would be an
asset.
Capacity to establish and remain committed to teamwork and
accustomed to act in a diplomatic and sensitive manner in a multicultural working environment.
Experience in project management, experience in an international
context and knowledge of UNESCO MAB
programme would be an asset.
