There Are No Ebola Screening Centers At Ghana's Main Airport which is Contrary To Minister Of Health's Earlier Announcement,

Last Thursday, Ghana’s Minister of Health, Dr. Agyeman-Mensah, announced the setting up of Ebola Screening Centers at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, the country's sole international airport. However, according to Citi FM, a national radio station, investigations at the airport confirm that this is untrue.


Following visits to the airport, Citi News reporters Kojo Agyeman and Magdalene Lanyoh reported that there are no screenings for Ebola symptoms going on there, a finding that directly contradicts the minister's claim that there are screening centers at all entry points into the country.
 
“We have activated a system for screening all passengers especially from countries that have recorded cases,” Dr. Agyeman-Mensah previously told Citi FM. 

Today, Ghana has officially banned flights from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia as a preventive measure. Last week, Patrick Sawyer, an American who boarded a flight from Liberia to Nigeria had a stopover in Ghana. He later died in Nigeria from the virus.
The death toll from the virus now stands at more than 700 people.
